Say Wha!? The Bestest Literature Festival(?) Ever

say wha logo Say Wha!? The Bestest Literature Festival(?) EverNext Wedesday marks the date for one of my favourite events ever: Say Wha!? Readings of Deliciously Rotten Writing.  The jist of the event, for those who haven’t guessed already, is that chosen readers are invited on stage to read excerpts from “literature” so badly written it would make R.L Stein blush.

The whole thing is organized by Sara Bynoe, who I am starting to wish I had heard of earlier. She’s the same mad(wo)man behind Dance Dance Party Party, and Teen Angst (readings of all of our worst highschool poetry).

What kind of stuff gets read there? Here’s a clip from the last one I was at.

And watch this one just for the excerpt from Geraldo Riviera’s book.

The only downside is the location. Cottage Bistro is a hole. It’s tiny, cramped, and charges astronomical prices for Greasy Spoon food. It’s also on the tail end of Main st. which makes it a bit of a hassle to get to. I think it’s one of those locations that got famous for being the place where everyone went “ironically”.

Anyhow, despite the location this is a show to see.
